Both of my grandparents died within months of each other. I had to travel to another country to attend the funeral which took about 4 days. I had used up my “Personal Days and Vacation Days” for my grandfather, so my previous job HR office said I didn’t have any other days to use so I can attend my grandmother’s funeral. I told them, they can fire me or not, but I’m not missing the funeral. I also took 4 days so I can travel and attend the funeral. I did get paid for the missing days after submitting “Death Certificate,” but the insensitivity of the whole process led me to depart from the company.
